Learning Objectives

1. Identify the difference between verbal and interactive “screening” and biological “testing”.

2. Discuss the amount and potency of alcohol that is consistent with a “standard drink.”

3. Describe the AUDIT screening tool and be confident expressing the outcome to clients.

4. Recognize the NIDA screening tool and be secure in expressing these findings and their implications with clients.

5. Identify ways to work in the tension of having universal screenings yet respecting the individuality of each client.
