Through a combination of didactic lecture, case exploration, simulation and debrief, participants will develop an understanding of the impacts of trauma in our society, the implications for patients and providers in obstretrical settings, and the core principles of trauma informed care. The course will also focus on skills for engaging patients effectively to build trust and facilitate culturally sensitive and collaborative care, with an emphasis on preventing the traumatization / re-traumatization of patients.
