Learning Objectives
- Provide basic patient education on the nature of chronic pain
- Frame a decision to set boundaries on or taper opioids based on patient well-being
- Introduce mind-body strategies for pain management
- Identify evidence-based parameters of dysphagia management, most especially surrounding use of thickened liquids and/or enteral nutrition
- Identify appropriate and functional aspiration risk mitigation strategies when overall therapeutic candidacy is limited
- Identify ways in which providers across disciplines can proactively advocate for SLP services for dysphagia management as well as how they can help facilitate appropriate conversations surrounding dysphagia management
- Learn spiritual practices common at end-of-life from various faith traditions
- Learn to confidently engage with their patients on spiritual topics
- Learn to make more effective spiritual care referrals for their patients
