Perioperative Nursing Conference 2024

Pittsburgh, PA US
September 14, 2024

This conference will prepare staff to care for patients with a cardiac defect, foreign body removal and ENT procedures as well as provide tips for caring for patients with developmental delays.

Nursing staff may not feel as comfortable caring for a patient with a cardiovascular defect as caring for those without. The ENT population of patients is the highest percentage to care for in the recovery room. With new staff in recovery, education is warranted so they can excel in discharge teaching for families. Children with developmental delays also require anesthesia for multiple types of procedures/surgeries. Staff should be aware of tips and tricks to care for this delicate population.

Target Audience

Registered Nurse

Learning Objectives

At the end of the conference staff will be able to:

  1.  Identify ENT procedure side effects appropriately and relay important information to families at discharge and during follow up phone calls.
  2. List 3 strategies to care for children with developmental delays, especially those on the autism spectrum.
  3. List 3 similarities or differences between cardiac anesthesia and non-cardiac anesthesia.
  4. List 3 foreign bodies that require immediate removal.
