PittPharmacy Preceptor Module 12: Entrustable Professional Activities-Online

Preceptors of today’s student pharmacists are both new and experienced practitioners, working in clinics, hospitals, specialty sites, and/or community pharmacies. It is critical that the keep abreast of standards and guidelines for experiential learning from accreditation bodies, as well as gain knowledge and understanding of our University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy experiential learning curriculum. This module is part of a series of video lectures for preceptors to gain knowledge and skills related to the PittPharmacy program, accreditation standards, precepting resources, and strategies for success.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this continuing pharmacy education program, the participant should be able to:

  • Define entrustable professional activities (EPAs)
  • Identify the six practice domains and five levels of supervision of EPAs
  • Analyze how other schools of pharmacy have integrated EPA use
  • Describe how EPAs are used in the Pitt Pharmacy curriculum
  • Discuss how EPAs can track the progression of student development
  • Develop students assignments related to different EPA competencies
  • Explain how EPAs are connected to the Pitt Pharmacy experiential learning student feedback surveys completed by preceptors
