Precepting for Success

Systemwide Nursing Education Council was requested by UPMC nursing leadership to spearhead the improvement of precepting for success course and to improve the consistency of precepting for success class content throughout the system. Ultimately, to streamline course content throughout UPMC system. 

Target Audience

Nurses

Learning Objectives

The learner will determining precepting style by completing self-evaluation activity

The learner will identify ways to support the preceptee throughout the precepted experience, beginning with the use of AIDET+ Promise

The learner will identify roles and expectations of preceptor, preceptee, unit leadership team, and educator

The learner will identify strategies for creating a positive learning environment 

The learner will be able to describe the UPMC orientation documentation process and tools specific to your facility

The learner will be able to provide relevant , timely, specific feedback; document and share that evaluation according to the process specific to your facility 

The learner will be able to identify resources to help the preceptor address challenges related to the preceptor role
