Precepting Tips and Tricks - 2026 APP Summit
This course provides practical, time‑efficient strategies to help preceptors confidently prepare, teach, and support physician assistant students in the clinical setting. Participants will learn approaches to orient learners, promote their growth, deliver effective feedback, manage challenges, and sustain preceptor well‑being through structured tools and available program resources.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, and nurse anesthetists.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Demonstrate the value of effective precepting by analyzing common barriers and selecting strategies to address them.
- Apply practical, time‑efficient clinical teaching strategies to prepare and orient students, promote progressive learner growth, and deliver constructive, actionable feedback in real-world patient care settings.
- Implement approaches that support learner success and preceptor well‑being by managing struggling learners effectively and utilizing available institutional preceptor support resources.

This activity is designated for 0.75 AAPA Category 1 CME credit. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.
Nursing (CNE)
The maximum number of hours awarded for this Continuing Nursing Education activity is 0.75 contact hour.
Other health care professionals will receive a certificate of attendance confirming the number of contact hours commensurate with the extent of participation in this activity.
