Target Audience

Registered nurses working with pregnant women in the home

Learning Objectives

Define the following pregnancy specific cardiovascular diseases; gestational hypertension, preeclampsia, HELLP syndrome, peripartum cardiomyopathy
Discuss the risk factors associated with pregnancy specific cardiovascular diseases.
Identify protective factors related to managing cardiovascular disease.
Outline assessment findings that require referral to a primary care provider.
Describe antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum management interventions related to cardiovascular diseases.
