Faculty, residents, fellows, and community physicians in General Internal Medicine and subspecialties.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to: 

  • Recognize the differences in macrophage populations as a function of their ontogeny.
  • Describe the role of the microenvironment in shaping macrophage phenotypes during aging.
  • Identify the multifunctional nature of macrophages over the course of lung injury and fibrosis.
  • Learn to use new technologies to generate hypotheses about macrophage function in the human lung.
