This session will be a discussion-based journal club, critically appraising a journal article in order to determine its validity, relevance, and rigor. When applying for grants, have you ever wondered how best to meet the NIH requirement to assess the rigor of the prior research in your field? Critical appraisal can help readers determine whether a study's results are valid, what the results are, and whether they are relevant to you. This class will cover the basics of critically appraising studies, including study design, methods, bias, and confounding.
