Do you know when you should use a chemical fume hood vs a biosafety cabinet?  Are you confident that your chemicals are appropriately separated and stored?  Do you feel confident listing the biological, chemical, physical and other hazards present in your research laboratory and identifying the measures used to mitigate risks associated with these hazards?  This session will use case studies to point out key differences between risk assessment for hazards in research laboratories and non-laboratory environments.  We will discuss EH&S resources available to assist you in assessing risk and developing safe research plans.  We will also review answers to common questions and observations made during EH&S laboratory safety surveys and training sessions.
