Think High-Flow -Nursing (ANCC Credit)
The goal of this education is to describe the evidence for, the benefits, and the procedures for delivering preventive post-extubation strategies (non-invasive ventilation and high flow nasal cannula oxygen) to patients. Learners will be provided with a framework for collaborating with the interprofessional team to coordinate delivery of preventive post-extubation strategies.
Nurses, Physicians, Respiratory Therapists
Clinical teams will gain the knowledge of how under-utilized the post extubation strategies are in current practice and how they can improve patient outcomes if routinely practiced. Respiratory therapists may receive more support for using these strategies as a result of educating the care teams. The goal of these modules are to encourage members of the clinical teams to coordinate delivery of preventative post-extubation strategies. The physicians, nurses, and respiratory therapists will be encouraged to discuss and collaborate on which patients may be good candidates for extubation. Physicians will gain an appreciation for team-based care when making decisions regarding extubation for a patient. Nurses and respiratory therapists will be encouraged to collaborate.
