The purpose of this educational activity is to share practical, evidence-based techniques for relieving stress and burnout, healing trauma, and building resilience—for ourselves, as well as those we serve and work with.

There is no educational content to this course. This course is designed to supplement training that has already occurred. This course is designed to only administer the post-test and collect CME evaluations.

  • Describe the larger social forces which are contributing to population-wide psychological trauma and the chronic illness it causes.
  • List key elements in a successful approach to addressing psychological trauma.

James S. Gordon, MD, author of Transforming Trauma: The Path to Hope and Healing, is a Harvard-educated psychiatrist, and the founder and CEO of the nonprofit Center for Mind-Body Medicine in Washington, DC. Dr. Gordon is internationally recognized for using self-awareness, self-care, and group support to heal population-wide psychological trauma. He is a longtime NIMH researcher, a clinical professor at Georgetown Medical School, and was chairman (under Presidents Clinton and G.W. Bush) of the White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Policy.
