Transplant Class 2021

This class will prepare  nurses new to the field of pediatric transplantation. Topics will be reviewed regarding the indications for abdominal transplant, the surgical aspects of abdominal transplantation, specific transplant medications, care of the pre and post- transplant patient, monitoring of specific lab values and implications for patient care, diagnosis and management of rejection in the abdominal transplant recipient.

 state 2 benefits of intestinal rehabilitation

define 3 causes of intestinal failure

will be able to discuss the organ listing process

will be able to state indications for intestinal transplant

will be able to state 2 post operative complications after solid organ transplantation

will be able to state symptoms of rejection for solid organ transplant recipients

will be able to state 2 indications for liver transplant

will be able to describe the SRTR

will be able to discuss psychosocial concerns for the abdominal transplant individual

will be able to state side effects of specific immunosuppressive medications

will be able to discuss laboratory value monitoring and the implications for post transplant care

will be able to define rejection

will be able to state treatment options for treating solid organ rejection

will be able to discuss the care of the individual with liver failure
