This course will prepare nurses to care for patients in need of a solid organ transplant as well as patients that have received a solid organ transplant.

- Participants will be able to discuss why individuals with a metabolic disorder can be transplanted
- Participants will be able to discuss infection concerns for transplant recipients
- Participants will be able to define specific labs values for liver recipients
- Participants will be able to discuss care of the child with acute liver failure
- Participants will be able to state functions of the liver
- Participants will be able to state consequences of ascites
- Participants will be able to discuss why we do liver transplants for metabolic disorders
- Participants will be able to discuss care of the child with acute liver failure
- Participants will be able to list 3 specific labs that are monitored for liver rejection
- Participants will be able to list specific labs that are monitored for liver rejection
- Participants will be able to list 3 psychosocial stressors for transplant families and their child.
- Participants will be able to list 3 possible side effects of tacrolimus
- Participants will be able to list treatment for electrolyte abnormalities related to Tacrolimus side effects
