This program will provide an overview of dementia with a focus on person centered dementia care.  

By the completion of this session, participants should be able to: 

  •  Identify normal and abnormal cognitive changes with aging.
  • Identify  4 common types of dementia and their characteristics.
  • Describe the concept of person centered care as it relates to dementia.
  • Discuss strategies to manage behavioral symptoms of dementia.
  • Recognize complications of dementia and risk for delirium.

Target Audience

This program is designed for nurses and personal care and assisted living administrators caring for residents with dementia.
