This course educates nurses regarding basic cardiac rhythm interpretation and reviews concepts related to the care of the cardiac patient.

Learning Objectives

1. Discuss and review basic cardiac anatomy and physiology, including the electrical conduction system of the heart.

2. Identify the components of an ECG complex and the relationship to cardiac physiology.

3. Demonstrate the ability to interpret cardiac dysrhythmias using a systematic approach for rhythm analysis.

4. Identify sinus and atrial rhythms, junctional rhythms, heart blocks, and ventricular and pacemaker rhythms.
