This course was designed to improve staff's competence and knowledge on PIVC insertion and venipunctures.

Learning Objectives
After completing this activity, the learner will be able to:
- List considerations of proper vascular access device planning in the neonatal and pediatric patient
- Demonstrate proper patient assessment and pre-procedural preparation for peripheral intravenous catheters (PIVC) in the neonatal and pediatric patient
- Describe and demonstrate the use of transillumination for the insertion of PIVCs
- Demonstrate proper care and maintenance for PIVCs in neonatal and pediatric patients
- Describe the most common PIVC complications and prevention strategies
