  • identify common congenital and acquired heart disease that would require a ventricular assist device
  • identify ventricular assist devices commonly used at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh
  • understand the functionality and purpose of ventricular assist devices commonly used at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh
  • apply basic practices of nursing care related to ventricular assist device dressing changes
