Winter 2026 Foundations to Practice: Symptom Management of Patients with Cancer
Learning Objectives
The learner will be able to:
1. Assess patients for symptoms of cancer-induced pain.
2. Evaluate interventions to manage the cutaneous effects of cancer treatment.
3. Prioritize the unique psychosocial needs of the cancer patient’s plan of care.
4. Identify interventions for managing cancer-related fatigue.
5. Recognize nutrition related complications in the oncology patient.
6. Formulate an interdisciplinary team to facilitate survivorship care planning.
7. Describe the impact integrative oncology practices on the oncology patient’s plan of care.

In support of improving patient care, the University of Pittsburgh is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
