ForwardWiser - Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) 7.29.19
The goal of the Critical Incident Stress Management Training course is to present the core elements of a comprehensive, systematic, and multi-component crisis intervention curriculum. This three-day course prepares participants to understand a wide range of crisis intervention services including Group and Individual Crisis Intervention techniques. The need for appropriate follow up services and referrals when necessary is also described. This course will prepare you to provide support to individuals and groups following exposure to adverse events in the work place.
Target Audience
The audience for this class includes: all departments of hospital staff with the compassion and empathy to support their colleagues with workplace related adverse events.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course the participants should be able to:
- List common critical incident stress signs and symptoms of distress including physical, emotional, behavioral, spiritual, and cognitive.
- Define and describe in detail the CISM group processes of on scene support, one-on-one support, crisis management briefing, defusing, and CISD debriefings.
- Demonstrate individual and group crisis intervention techniques.
