WLA – Substance Use Disorder in Hospice Patients UPDATE

Many providers who serve the hospice population are uneducated on how to handle opioid use disorder in the hospice patient population.

This course leads providers through the complex management of patients in hospice who have a history of substance use disorder. Shared language is covered to set the stage before diving into discussing pain management with this patient population. Details about pharmacologic treatments for addiction, including buprenorphine and naltrexone, will also be provided as a lead in for pain management strategies. Inpatient and end-of-life aspects of hospice care will be covered before the course comes to an end.
