Critical Care Fellowship Session 1 - July 8, 2025
Nurses gain basic ICU knowledge and skills during orientation, but require advanced knowledge and skills to continue to grow in their practice. This session is attended approximately 6 months after the Critical Care Course so that basic skills have become more comfortable and learners are prepared to build on their knowledge and skillset. The content of this course is based on feedback from key stakeholders and registered nurses to build on critical care concepts introduced during orientation. Specific gaps covered in this session include 12-lead EKG interpretation and Acute Coronary Syndrome, Medication Management, X-ray interpretation, and Ventilator/Trach Management.

Learning Objectives
- Learners will be able to interpret a 12 lead EKG to identify area of infarct and acuity of infarct to anticipate cath lab intervention.
- Learners will be able to discuss the monitoring and care of a patient being treated with a cardiac medication drip.
- Leaners will be able to identify correct placement of lines and devices on X-ray.
- Learners will be able to discuss and interpret ABG values, anticipate ventilator setting changes, and manage ventilator alarms.
- Learners will be able to care for an intubated patient by managing sedative and paralytic medications based on ventilator compliance.
- Learners will be able to discuss the Rapid Sequence Intubation process and the care of the newly intubated patient.
