Early Childhood Development; Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes for the Nurse Home Visitor - July 28, 2023
An important outcome of the Nurse Family Partnership Program is to help families, "improve child health and development". Developmental assessments are an important part of the nurse home visitor role and a review of screening, relevant child development theories and strategies to improve implementation is required by nurses new to the role of Nurse Home Visitor and requested for experienced staff by supervisors as a review to ensure competent assessment, intervention and referral.
Review of this material will help with communication when the Nurse Home Visitor needs to refer the family for outside services.

Learning Objectives
Develop a plan to complete ASQ-3 and ASQ-SE screening at recommended times.
Identify resources available to share with families after screening.
Identify referral sources if screening indicates a need.
Describe attachment, cognitive, behavioral, social learning, ecological systems and sociocultural and prevent theories related to child development.
Discuss Stages 1 and 2 of Erickson's Stages of psychosocial development.
Describe the value of PIPE lessons is supporting the child's development.
Relate DANCE categories to early child development theories.
