Emergency Services Readiness Provider Education: Obstetric Emergencies

This course provides emergency department staff with essential guidance for the timely recognition and management of obstetric emergencies, including delivery complications, hemorrhage, severe hypertension, sepsis, cardiac conditions, mental health crises, and substance use disorders. Emphasis is placed on screening, triage, stabilization, escalation of care, and appropriate consultation to support Emergency Services Readiness and meet CMS requirements.

This required education is related to new CMS Conditions of Participation for emergency services readiness for obstetric emergencies.

Target Audience

This online course is designed for non‑UPMC emergency department providers, including locum tenens emergency clinicians.
