Everyone Wants to Hold the Baby, Who Will Hold the Mother?®: Perinatal Mental Health and Lactation
This activity will be a CEU lecture offered as part of an all-day, in-person meeting of the Pennsylvania Breastfeeding Coalition.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to:
● Engage in meaningful dialogue around perinatal mental health and its relationship with lactation success, challenges, and culturally responsive care.
● Reflect on how to hold space for and support new birthing people within their institution/organization by integrating mental health screening with breastfeeding support practices.
● Utilize evidence-based tools and strategies to support families impacted by perinatal/parental mental health challenges, including referral pathways, interdisciplinary collaboration, and practical lactation support.

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by the University of Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania Breastfeeding Coalition. The University of Pittsburgh is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
