Head and Neck Microvascular Fellow Advanced Mandibular and Midface Osteotomy Simulator and Techniques Course
The aim of this course is to prepare future head and neck microsurgeons for complex bony reconstruction of the mandible and midface. The course will cover cadaver flap dissection of workhorse bone flaps including fibula, radial forearm, and scapular osteocutaneous flaps. The course will focus on creation of osteotomies for bone flaps and advanced plating techniques for mandible and maxillary reconstruction. Lastly, there will be virtual surgical planning session to discuss surgical pearls and design techniques.
Learning Objectives
1. Understand various bone defects of the head and neck and how to characterize them
2. Perform osteotomies on bone flaps and recreate mandible or maxilla
3. Understand the utility of virtual surgical planning when indicated
