This activity will help pharmacists understand the differences between various gastrointestinal bleeds so that they can assist the healthcare team in the most appropriate, guideline-directed management of patients.

- Explain the differences between the clinical presentation of variceal, upper gastrointestinal, and lower gastrointestinal bleeds

- Design an evidence-based pharmacologic treatment plan for patients presenting with bleeding within the gastrointestinal tract

- Identify appropriate indications for prophylaxis against gastrointestinal bleeding
