Introduction to the Surgery Optimization Clinic
Patients undergoing surgery at UPMC hospitals may qualify for a visit to the Surgery Optimization Clinic. Preadmission Testing works with this population of patients as well and would benefit from an understanding as to how the clinic runs and services provided for these patients. This will educate on how the clinic was started, what a visit entails and the benefits of the clinic and their goal to prevent complications and readmissions for patients having surgery at UPMC Hospitals.
This is to improve communication, collaboration and between the interprofessional teams that work with this population to facilitate the best surgical outcomes possible for UPMC patients. This will make the team aware of the documentation that will be present and where to find the documentation in the EMR for their reference. This will promote communication and consistency of care.
