UPMC Lung and Mediastinal Oncology Course

April 6, 2020 to April 7, 2020

This two-day conference aims to expand clinical knowledge and technical skill regarding management of cancers of the lung and mediastinum. Didactic sessions will be designed to feature world-renowned experts in lively pro/con debates and reveal their best technical pearls in “How I Do It” sessions. Important topics such as uni-portal vs. multi-portal video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery, the role of robotics in lung and mediastinal surgery, treatment options for non-small cell lung cancer, and node dissection will be explored in depth. The second day of the course will feature a broadcast of live surgery, including VATS lobectomy and robotic-assisted lobectomy.

Target Audience

This course is designed for thoracic surgeons, surgical oncologists, general surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, internists, family practice providers, advanced practice providers, nurses, and any other associated health professionals with an interest in medical and surgical treatment for lung and mediastinal malignancies.

  • In depth exploration of surgical and medical management strategies for lung and mediastinal cancers
  • Consideration of the use of operations such as lobectomy,  segementectomy for the management of lung cancer; and associated technical pearls
  • Increased understanding of the advantages of having a robotic platform in your healthcare system can have for patients
  • Primer on cutting-edge clinical trials for lung cancer
  • Introduction into the future of early detection for lung cancer
