Mental Health First Aid 11-01-2022
This program Mental Health First Aid is a skills-based training course that teaches participants about mental health and substance-use issues. Mental Health First Aid helps the learner to best assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis. The Mental Health First Aid course, educates the learner about risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help.

1. Discuss the Mental Health First Aid intervention model
2. Discuss the steps of ALGEE: Mental Health Action Planning
3. Discuss application of the Mental Health Action Plan during mental health crisis situations, and self-care planning for the mental health first aider

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, University of Pittsburgh is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. University of Pittsburgh maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this course receive 6.5 continuing education credits.
