More than Graft Function: Managing Cardiovascular Disease Post-Transplant

This presentation will highlight important cardiovascular risks and disease management following solid organ transplant. Topics will include the role of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk calculation and primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease including hypertension and hyperlipidemia management.

Analyze the impact of solid organ transplant on a patient’s cardiovascular risks and outcomes.

Identify cardiovascular risk factors associated with commonly used immunosuppressive agents.

Compare and contrast hypertension management before and after solid organ transplant and be able to recommend an antihypertensive regimen for a post-transplant patient.

Apply the ASCVD risk calculation to a post-transplant patient when formulating hyperlipidemia treatment decisions.
