Navigating Addiction Treatment
Many staff working within the Clinical Care Coordination and Discharge Planning department do not have enough hands-on experience with setting up interventions/treatments for patients with substance use disorders and require further education on the ASAM and treatment modalities. Also, a better understanding and comfort level with substance use treatment options will allow for a smoother transition of patient care with the medical team and more effective discharge planning. We would expect for our staff to have a firmer understanding of the treatment options available to patients with substance use disorders and to be able to navigate arranging such treatments for discharge planning.

Nurse
Social Worker
Learning Objectives
Review the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria and levels of care
Describe treatment modalities for substance use disorders
Evaluate specialized interventions for those with substance use and co-occurring disorders
