New Hire Neuroscience Nursing Class 10.16.26

This class will serve new hire RNs in Shadyside NSICU and Neurology units to aid in their orientation by increasing their knowledge on neuroscience related disease processes and nursing evidence-based, best practices to improve patient outcomes.

Target Audience

Learning Objectives

-The RNs should be able to describe, explain, and define neuroscience nursing disease etiology and pathophysiology when performing patient and family education.

-The RN should be able to recognize signs and symptoms of a decompensating neurology patient, implement appropriate nursing treatment options, and communicate with the interdisciplinary team based on those signs and symptoms.

-The RN should be able to perform necessary neuroscience nursing competencies and maintain devices such as maintaining an epidural, EVD, lumbar drain, and eeg.
