Critical Care Education Day 2024, 9/16/2024

September 16, 2024

Critical care nursing requires a high level of knowledge and skillset to care for critically ill and a variety of complex patients. The area of opportunity includes high risk low volume situations and equipment, hands-on skill practice to develop muscle memory, knowledge/skill verification based on quality measures and incident reports, and important updates in how we provide care.

Mock code participation allows nursing staff to practice performing in a role as an ACLS provider and member of the interdisciplinary team. This simulation focuses on closed-loop communication and following set protocols as a member of a team, as well as anticipation of the roles of the interprofessional healthcare team (example: need for credentialed provider or anesthesia to intubate post-ROSC). Other activities focus on the role of the nurse specifically.
