Supporting Expectant Mothers with ADHD through the Transition to Parenthood

Research has demonstrated that ADHD in pregnancy can interfere with perinatal health behaviors, performance at home and work, interpersonal relationships, and postpartum functioning (e.g., depression), including maternal-child attachment and quality of infant care. These impairments negatively impact early child development.

This activity will provide attendees - therapist from the Perinatal Behavioral Health Clinic - with the additional knowledge, skills, and strategies required to work collaboratively with providers in the support of expectant women managing ADHD during pregnancy.

Learning Objectives

Participants will learn evidence-based skills that strategies that will support pregnant women with ADHD.

Participants will learn to use motivational interviewing techniques that will encourage and support the parent's willingness to apply the MomMA skills and strategies.

Participants will be able to train pregnant women in implementing the MomMA skills and strategies for managing ADHD during their pregnancy and in preparation for their upcoming role as a parent.
