Learning Objectives

  1. At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to set up the criticool machine, start thermoregulation and discontinue thermoregulation on an infant receiving therapeutic hypothermia.
  2. At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to set up the aEEG monitor and show correct placement of the aEEG needles.
  3. At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to set up the exchange transfusion kit and the 2 stop-cock method procedure for a patient receiving an exchange transfusion.
  4. At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to state the correct ml/min calculation of blood extraction and administration during an exchange transfusion.
  5. At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to demonstrate correct steps of NRP during a neonatal resuscitation.
  6. At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to document a neonatal resuscitation in the EHR.
  7. At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able assist with a needle aspiration procedure.
  8. At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to set up a chest tube drainage kit and state how to troubleshoot when it is not functioning properly.
  9. At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to work as a team and complete tasks to admit a neonate born at <32 weeks gestation.
  10. At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to set up tubing and draw blood work from a peripheral arterial line.
  11. At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to set up and draw blood work from an umbilical arterial line.
  12. At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to set up and draw blood work from an umbilical venous line.
  13. At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to secure an endotracheal tube for a neonate using the “h tape method”.
