ForwardTransfusion Parameters - 2026 APP Summit
This course provides a comprehensive overview of hematology and transfusion practices, including indications for red blood cell transfusions, restrictive transfusion strategies, and the single‑unit transfusion standard. Learners will also review a full spectrum of transfusion reactions—ranging from febrile and allergic responses to acute hemolytic events and TACO—with guidance on recognition, assessment, and evidence‑based management.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, and nurse anesthetists.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Explain the key components of the inflammatory process and their clinical implications.
- Apply the rationale and mechanisms of radiation therapy to the management of benign disorders.
- Evaluate the current evidence supporting the use of low‑dose radiation therapy (LDRT) in osteoarthritis.
- Identify the risks, limitations, and patient‑selection criteria to determine appropriate candidates for LDRT.

The maximum number of hours awarded for this Continuing Nursing Education activity is 0.5 contact hour.
Other health care professionals will receive a certificate of attendance confirming the number of contact hours commensurate with the extent of participation in this activity.
