This journal club critically reviews a systematic review and meta‑analysis evaluating intraoperative esmolol as an adjunct in multimodal anesthesia for reducing opioid consumption and postoperative pain. Participants will examine proposed analgesic mechanisms, study methodology, strengths and limitations, and the clinical relevance, safety, and external validity of incorporating esmolol into perioperative pain management strategies.
