51st Annual Magee-Womens Hospital Alumni Day
For this year’s Magee Alumni Day program, we have an exciting line-up of speakers consisting of past and current faculty and former residents. The program will feature updates on clinical care over the entire age spectrum of our patients. We expect the program to present topics that pose challenging clinical, technical, ethical, and financial issues that today’s OB/GYN often faces, whether in practice or in an academic career. The program features endowed lectures — the Cohen, McCall, OB/GYN Legacy, Katz Minimally Invasive Surgery, Kunschner Memorial lectures as well as the Steve N. Caritis Lecture.

Learning Objectives
1. Identify the different factors that contribute to professional fulfillment according to the Stanford Model of Occupational Well-Being
2. Identify strategies that can improve professional fulfillment
3. Recognize the role of OB GYNs in maintaining trust, communicating risk and benefit, and supporting informed decision making regarding immunization during pregnancy.
4. Placental biomarkers may play a key role in the assessment of patients for preeclampsia. There is a knowledge gap of the role of these biomarkers in clinical practice. This educational event will close that gap.
5. While uterine fibroids are a common clinical problem in gynecology not all clinicians are comfortable with some of the newer medical and surgical approaches to treatment. This event will increase awareness of these treatments to help clinicians better counsel patients who suffer from fibroids.
6. Rare gynecologic malignancies are typically managed by tertiary care centers, and therefore most clinicians are unfamiliar with their treatment. This lecture hopes to narrow this knowledge gap for clinicians who refer to specialized cancer centers.
There is a block of rooms being held for Alumni Day at the Residence Inn, directly across the street from the hospital for anyone who wants to stay close by. Please contact the Residence Inn Pittsburgh Oakland/University Place at (412) 621-5600.
