ForwardState of the ART: Updates in HIV Management
Antiretroviral therapy (ART) is a rapidly evolving area, and the availability of new clinical data and therapeutic options pose challenges in the management of persons with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Medication errors related to ART and/or opportunistic infections further pose challenges when patients are admitted to the inpatient setting, which can lead to treatment failure, drug resistance, and toxicities.
This activity will provide pharmacists with updates in HIV management, including screening recommendations, laboratory evaluations, drug interactions, new antiretroviral medications, and opportunistic infections.

1. List appropriate screening guidelines for patients with HIV.
2. Interpret laboratory and other relevant diagnostic test results related to HIV infection.
3. Assess pharmacotherapeutic plans and drug-drug interactions for inpatients with HIV.
