North 10 Annual Nurse Education Day 2024, 11/8/2024

November 8, 2024

Nurses do not get much experience with MRI pumps, PCA pumps, and the Life Pak. N10 needs review of toxicology patients. N10 nurses do not always understand what diuretics are contraindicated for their patients. N10 nurses need practice for what to do during trach and respiratory emergencies. Patients on N10 frequently deal with delirium and are not always treated preventatively. Restraint and EKG competencies must be renewed each year.

Nephrology and respiratory therapy are contributing to content for this education day. Educated nurses can play a more active role in advocating and care planning for their patients. Knowing the signs of toxicology and withdrawal issues, nurses can identify patient needs early and inform providers before a crisis occurs.
