OASIS Study: Advanced Pediatric Sleep Assessment and Bedtime Routine
This training will equip behavioral therapists with the knowledge and skills to work collaboratively with pediatric providers to identify developmentally inappropriate sleep patterns using quality sleep assessments, as well as deliver evidence-based psychoeducation that will assist parents in managing sleep problems in their young children.
Curriculum will include:
- Conducting a comprehensive sleep assessment
- Providing psychoeducation related to the basics of healthy sleep (bedtime routine, schedule, sleep health/hygiene and modifiable behaviors (electronics usage, caffeine consumption)
- Promoting a consistent, positive bedtime routine and sleep schedule
- Adopting a family-centered, culturally competent approach to care
- Case study: Standard to complex sleep assessment for preschoolers + review bedtime routine. Cases (written or video/audio clips from pilot cases) will be used to demonstrate assessment/parent education and guide discussion.
