Orthopedic Oncology and Metastatic Disease

October 31, 2024

There are ongoing evolutions to treatment for patients with metastatic cancer. With increased survivorship, the incidence of metastatic bone disease continues to rise. In light of this, patients are at risk for pathologic fractures that result in pain, disruption of quality of life, and possible morbidity/mortality due to subsequent consequences of lost mobility and independence. Given this, the ability to treat patients, improve pain and quality of life and function is evolving and our abilities to help these patients continues to expand

This will help the interprofessional teams to know that we have many solutions to help patients with metastatic disease, and establishing multidisciplinary collaborative care improves patients quality of life.
