PEG Tube Insertion for the GI Nurse - April 1, 2025
Having endoscopy RNs trained in assisting with proper placement of a PEG allows for patient satisfaction, avoids a delay in the procedure while waiting for a surgical resident to become available, staff satisfaction in the learning process and growth of the RN staff. Having the RN staff properly trained helps minimize the risk of surgical site infections as well.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the education, learners will be able to demonstrate proper placement and technique of a PEG tube.
The learners will be able to discuss the parameters required to placing a PEG tube, the indications for the PEG and any post procedure complications that may occur.
