Need to know multiple regulatory guidelines such as the CDC, the Joint Commission, CMS, DEA, FDA, and EPA. Gain knowledge from Subject Matter Experts in drug enforcement. Need to be able to Identify, Respond, and Prevent Drug Diversion. Identifying drug diversion requires a combination of skills such as understanding that substance disorder is a disease, how to observe, accurate documentation and how to report.

Clinical teams prescribing controlled substances outside the usual course of professional practice. Clinical teams do not identify, respond, and prevent drug diversion which could result in patient safety and legal issues. Learning Objectives

Able to Identify, Respond, and Prevent drug diversion.

Gain knowledge of CDC guidelines for prescribing opioids to determine whether to initiate opioids for pain, to select dosages, decide duration of initial prescription and follow-ups, and assess the risk and addressing potential harm.

Learn skills needed to balance the need for buprenorphine for treating OUD and prevent misuse.

Able to identify and describe current drug guidelines/regulations, current trends, and identify issues in health care/field.
