Pulse: Off-label Uses of GLP-1 Agonists
Public and professional interest in GLP-1 agonists has grown significantly since their initial approval for Type 2 diabetes. They have become exceedingly popular for weight loss, but the medications may have alternate uses for indications including weight-related comorbidities, movements disorders like Parkinsons disease, and cognitive function disorders. It is necessary for pharmacists to understand the potential benefits of GLP-1 agonists in these disease settings to assist with the evaluation of patients’ eligibility for treatment.
