Seize the Moment: The Management Status Epilepticus

This course will equip pharmacists with the knowledge of status epilepticus management. Pharmacists will be able to educate critical care nurses on appropriate administration of antiepileptic medications. Pharmacists will also assist providers by ensuring appropriate selection and dosing of the medications.

1. Define status epilepticus and classify convulsive, non-convulsive, and refractory status epilepticus

2. Identify key treatment goals and initial therapies for status epilepticus

3. Develop a recommendation for appropriate dosing and titration of continuous infusions for refractory status epilepticus

4. Evaluate patient-specific factors to guide antiepileptic regimen and monitoring plan
