Spring SWIM workshop 2023
The University of Pittsburgh Center for Sleep and Circadian Science (CSCS) announces its second SWIM Workshop. We are now accepting applications. Individuals from groups under-represented in sleep and circadian science are strongly encouraged to apply.
What is the Spring SWIM?
The workshop is an immersive 3-day training program on background and state-of-the-art methods in human and animal research on sleep and circadian rhythms. Workshop faculty are leaders in sleep and circadian science research and medicine at the University of Pittsburgh who are committed to enhancing equity and inclusion in the sleep and circadian science workforce.
How and Why?
The workshop will feature hands-on learning, video lectures and in-person discussions on foundational topics in sleep and circadian science, feedback on research and career development ideas, “how to” sessions to support professional development, and extensive networking opportunities with junior and senior colleagues in sleep and circadian science.
SWIM is committed to developing a diverse sleep and circadian science workforce which will, in turn, enhance the diversity of ideas, approaches, and impact of this rapidly evolving field.
Target Audience
This workshop is designed for individuals across the educational continuum including advanced undergraduates, post-baccalaureates, graduate and medical students, post-docs, and assistant professors who are interested in learning about sleep and circadian science in relation to their career interests. We are especially interested in individuals who don’t currently have opportunities to learn about or engage in sleep and circadian science at their home institution.
