Learning Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:
1. Articulate the general approach to assessing and remediating struggling learners (SL), including the importance of early identification and the barriers that may impede this process.
2. Identify and analyze the underlying issues that contribute to clinical performance struggles in SLs, enabling educators and administrators to develop targeted intervention strategies.
3. Explore the components of a successful remediation program, including the development of practical assessment tools, sample remediation plans, and policies to support Sls within a programmatic framework.
4. Differentiate between misconduct concerns and developmental issues and learn effective approaches to handling each situation while maintaining a supportive and constructive learning environment.
5. Acquire strategies and techniques for remediating professionalism, communication, clinical reasoning, and organization/efficiency skills in Sls, ensuring their growth and improvement in these essential areas of medical education.
